Does the Veterans History Project accept larger collections?

Before accepting larger collections of manuscript or photograph materials for inclusion in the Veterans History Project, VHP’s archival team must evaluate all material offers. This process can take up to four months. Please be aware that for a variety of reasons, not all original materials are a good match for the Veterans History Project.

If you have a collection comprised of over 50 items please contact us at vohp@loc.gov with the following information:

  • A description of the veteran’s service (i.e., branch, when and where they served, any notable events of their service).
  • Total number of items in the collection, as well as totals based on material type (i.e., number of photographs, letters, diaries, etc.).
  • A brief description of the condition of the items (e.g., brittle, torn, water damaged, etc.).
