How do I request a research appointment in the Law Library Reading Room?
Appointments are optional, but encouraged. To help us better serve you, request a research appointment to ensure collection material is accessible during your visit to the Library. There are two appointment time blocks: 8:30 am–1:00 pm or 1:00 pm–5:00 pm (Monday–Saturday). Appointments should be scheduled at least one day in advance.
Please use the online reservation system to request an appointment; you will receive a message when your requested appointment time is confirmed. For additional instructions, see the Researcher Scheduling page.
To speak with a legal reference librarian about scheduling an appointment, call 202-707-5079 during normal business hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm).
Established by Congress in 1832, the Law Library has a collection of over 2.65 million volumes spanning the ages and covering virtually every jurisdiction in the world.
We cannot provide legal advice, interpretation, or analysis which could be interpreted as the practice of law; extensive bibliographies or legislative histories; or answers for student homework assignments.
