Can I borrow materials from the Law Library of Congress?
Registered readers may request materials in the Law collections for use within the Law Library Reading Room; however, these materials may not be removed from the premises. Materials may only be borrowed by Congress and certain government agency libraries. The Library of Congress will lend materials from its collections to other libraries through established interlibrary loan procedures. For more information on the Library of Congress interlibrary loan procedures, visit LOC Interlibrary Loan.
Established by Congress in 1832, the Law Library has a collection of over 2.65 million volumes spanning the ages and covering virtually every jurisdiction in the world.
We cannot provide legal advice, interpretation, or analysis which could be interpreted as the practice of law; extensive bibliographies or legislative histories; or answers for student homework assignments.
