The Moving Image Section evaluates donations based on criteria such as

• Uniqueness, i.e. does it duplicate our existing holdings?
• Does it fill a gap in our collections?
• Does it come without rights restrictions?

We also consider physical condition, storage requirements (space and re-housing), preservation needs and impact on accessioning. We do, on rare occasions, purchase material, but give priority to gift offers that come with no restrictions or obligations.
