Getting to the Library of Congress

Our three buildings can be reached a number of ways depending on your method of transportation. If you are visiting or planning to research in the Jefferson building, the carriage entrance serves as the main entry point for the building.

Directions to this entrance by Metro, car, bus, train, and from regional airports can be found here:  https://www.loc.gov/visit/directions/

Travel between our three buildings can be done within the complex using our underground tunnel system, as well as at the street level through these public entry points:

  • Adams can be entered at 2nd Street SE, between Independence Avenue and East Capitol Street.
  • Madison can be entered at Independence Avenue, between 1st and 2nd Streets.

Maps and floorplans can be accessed here: https://www.loc.gov/visit/maps-and-floor-plans/
