Can I use the Library's reading rooms?

Main Reading Room

The Library's Main Reading Room is open to all researchers 16 years or older who present valid photo identification (e.g. driver's license, passport) with a current address at one of the Library's reader registration stations.

General, International, and Special Format Reading Rooms

If you know which reading room contains collections useful for your research or area of interest, you may wish to contact that reading room or research center to ask about their access policies. If you are not sure which research center may be able to assist you, feel free to submit a question to the Ask a Librarian "Ask a General Question" form.

Note: Several of the Library's special format reading rooms restrict access to their collections to visitors 18 years old and above.
