How do I get Library of Congress cataloging for my self-published book?
The Library of Congress does not provide call numbers and other cataloging data for books except as part of the cataloging process. Publications are selected for bibliographic cataloging according to guidelines developed by cataloging managers and collection development officials.
Books that are submitted to the U.S. Copyright Office, either for copyright registration or in fulfillment of mandatory deposit, are reviewed by the Library of Congress selection officers for inclusion in the Library's collections.
Information about classifying library materials can be found at http://www.loc.gov/rr/program/bib/libsci/faq.html#class1, and about all aspects of cataloging at http://www.loc.gov/rr/program/bib/libsci/guides.html#cataloging .
