How do I get a Reader Card?

You'll find information about registering to use the Library of Congress' Reading Rooms here: Reader Registration and Access to Library of Congress Reading Rooms.

Note: Currently, researchers must register in person for Library of Congress Reader Identification Cards and registered researchers may use their cards to use the Library's reading rooms and to request materials for use in a reading room.  Even registered readers may not access the Library of Congress's subscription databases or any other Copyright-or-license-restricted resources when they are not onsite.

Researchers anywhere, at any level,  may access the Library's freely-accessible digital collections, its online catalogs, and its Ask a Librarian Service  (Just ask -- the Library's reference librarians and subject specialists are here to help!).
