I do not see an item for the serial record that I think the Library has. How do I check?
Serials are held in many locations within the Library of Congress, and a title’s location may vary by format and by date. A serial’s location is listed at the bottom of the catalog record under “Library Holdings” and dates of available volumes and issues are listed under “Availability & Location.” If you do not see what you need, do not assume we do not have it as not all information may appear in the online catalog. Serials records can be very complex, so it is a good idea to check in with librarians when you are looking for a particular issue.
Serials issues held in the General Collections can be requested through the online catalog. Serials held in other locations, such as the Newspaper & Current Reading Room and other Library reading rooms, cannot be requested online. For these items, please contact reference staff in the reading room listed next to the item you need.
If you have questions about a serial or need more assistance, please contact reference staff in the Newspaper & Current Periodical Reading Room through Ask-a-Librarian or by calling the reading room’s reference desk: 202-707-5690.
