What is the Thomas Leiper Kane Collection?
Thomas Leiper Kane was a linguist who studied Ethiopian languages and authored two compendiums: The Amharic-English Dictionary and the Tigrinya-English Dictionary. The Library of Congress acquired his private collection by purchase in 2001. The crown jewel of this collection are the rare Ethiopian manuscripts and scrolls.
